Concentrated innovation power for your IT security: agileSI™ cooperates with ISSE of the University of Augsburg.

By Philip Schöttl  - June 7, 2018

The IT security galaxy is a space of continuous change. If you don't think about tomorrow's security, you are already exposed today to numerous external dangers without protection. Strong alliances are needed to continue to secure one's existence.

For this reason, agileSI™ has entered into a strong partnership with the ISSE (Institute for Software and System Engineering at University of Augsburg) under the direction of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Reif. An alliance that probably eclipses even the former dream duo from the Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.

The cooperation focuses on a development project with over 100 students in their fourth semester (Bachelor). In groups of 5-6, students drive the development of an Access Risk Control Tool (ARCT) for SAP® systems.

The outcome of the project monitors user authorizations, evaluates potential risks and checks for critical roles, profiles, and SoD (Segregation of Duties) conflicts. At the beginning of the project, agileSI illustrated the various customer specifications to the students and gave an introductory lecture on SAP®.

The primary purpose of the project is to inspire young people for the exciting topics of IT security and SAP®. The cooperation with experts from agileSI™ raises students awareness about risks, authorizations and access to critical data in times of the digital transformation and new data regulations such as GDPR.

Also, the students get to learn about authorizations management in small and medium companies and gain first experiences in working with ERP systems. The project encourages creativity and out-of-the-box-thinking by allowing different implementation approaches.

The partnership is a win-win situation. On the one hand, students gain an initial insight into project management and teamwork in a large software engineering and development project. On the other hand, agileSI™ benefits from the innovative potential of a university, which contributes to the development of concepts for authorization, encryption and database technologies.

Because one thing is certain. In the galaxy of IT security, innovation is the fuel during your journey.
